Meet the Team – Jessy McFetridge

Jessy is an O.G. member of the Avnio team, having played a pivotal role in the company’s growth since its inception in 2019. Jessy started her career in an administrative position and has since transitioned to the sales department, where she remains an invaluable team member. Her infectious sense of humour, tremendous multitasking skills, and unwavering work ethic make her an essential member of the Avnio family. It was only appropriate to spotlight the exceptional woman behind the scenes in this short interview below.

What’s your professional background?

I’ve had many jobs since being a young “Saturday Market girl” selling fruit and veg… “Roll up, roll up, two bowls for a pound,” including waitressing, retail, and Cabin Crew Assistant (cabin crew training was such an incredible experience)!

After this, I had a 2-year break while I had my children before going into a care role which I did for years, and transitioned then into an admin position in that same company. Still, I enjoyed this role and found myself looking into other administrative functions, which eventually led me to Avnio!

What motivates you at work?

A big motivator for me is the opportunity to learn new things and grow. The support of the team and my passion for others is also a motivator; we all want to thrive.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a midwife. I was interested in pregnancy and babies while my mum was pregnant with my sister when I was 7. I took the entry-level exam for midwifery before working in an admin role.

What do you like best about your job at Avnio?

The culture is my favourite part of Avnio. Everyone has a great attitude and is so supportive that it makes you feel like you can achieve anything you want.

Who is your role model?

This may be a weird answer as usually a role model is someone you look up to who has qualities you want to have yourself. But my role models are my two children. They give me a passion for succeeding and make me want to be the best version of myself, which qualifies them as role models.

What’s your favourite comfort media (book, show, movie, music, or anything else)?

Friends, the T.V. show – I’ve seen them all a billion times, but it is definitely a comfort show for me. Also the film Shrek, I can never get bored of watching it!

Fun fact about you that people may not know?

As a kid, I made a rap about myself, which comes out at nearly every event I attend. I can’t help myself, but people usually think I have made it up on the spot, and it goes down quite well. (Please only ask me to do it if I have had a cocktail).

What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?

That selling is easy! I thought it would be easy for me. I am a fairly personable human, and I believed it would be a walk in the park. It’s tough at times. Our team constantly evolves and pushes boundaries, so you’ll need to be adaptable and ready to learn on the fly. We know it can be challenging, but the rewards are well worth it – from professional development to the satisfaction of delivering is incomparable.

It can also be challenging if you cannot accept pushback; this happens, and when it does, you need to move on, but we’re all human, and sometimes it can take a toll.

But with that said, when you meet with prospects and show them what we do and see people interested, it’s THE MOST rewarding part of the role, and then I can conquer the world!
